“When the student is ready the teacher will appear,” is a trendy saying that has been attributed to the Buddha.  It certainly pertains to me at the moment!  It’s ironic that I am a tenured teacher, but my real job is that of a full-time pupil of life.  And this serious student is ready to learn!

Recently my teachers have come in two forms:  one is a small group of precious fourth-grade giddy girls and the other is author, mystic, and medium, Suzanne Giesemann.

Over the past three years I have listened to over 125 audio books about metaphysics and the afterlife.  Based on my purchases, Audible.com recommended Messages of Hope, The Metaphysical Memoir of a Most Unexpected Medium by Suzanne Giesemann.  I love how Audible lets you listen to five minutes of the program before you invest in it.  Not only did I buy it, but I finished the entire book in two days – and completed another one of her books, Wolf’s Message, two days later.  Below is how Amazon reviewed her books:

“Are there dimensions of existence beyond the material world? If so, can we connect with loved ones who have passed, and with higher levels of consciousness than our own? Messages of Hope is the pause-resisting story of a former skeptic who has found the answers to these questions and more through evidential communication with the unseen realms.

When Commander Suzanne Giesemann, former US Navy commanding officer and aide to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, walked the halls of the Pentagon and flew on Air Force One, she did everything by the book. A personal witness to the horrors of 9/11, she saw things in black and white, with little time for spiritual seeking. Never did she expect that a personal family tragedy would propel her on a mystical journey that would turn her life’s path in a most unexpected direction.

Follow Suzanne – now an author, speaker, and a practicing psychic-medium – as she moves from doubt and disbelief to full faith and trust in a reality beyond the physical senses. Laced with spirit-inspired poetry and compelling answers to many of life’s big questions, Suzanne’s remarkable story, read by the author, will leave listeners with the comforting and credible message that this life is not all there is.”

“Wolf’s Message is a masterpiece of intrigue. If you have ever wanted to read a book that validates immortality and communication with loved ones who have passed on, then read this book. It is an authentic portal to the other side.” When Mike and Beth Pasakarnis received the news that every parent dreads, their world seemed to crumble around them. Spiritual teacher and evidential medium Suzanne Giesemann knew exactly how they felt. Like Mike and Beth’s son, Wolf, her step-daughter Susan had been struck and killed by a bolt of lightning out of the blue. Until meeting Mike and Beth, Suzanne—a former “by-the-book” Navy commander—had cautiously refrained from using the word “proof” when speaking of the eternal existence of the soul. But no longer.

The evidence Mike and Beth shared from their son provided all the proof she needed. Little did Mike, Beth, or Suzanne know that their lives would soon become even more entangled by unexpected visits from Wolf’s spirit. Had Wolf’s presence offered a one-time glimpse across the veil, they might still be pondering the significance of the mystifying clues he left behind. Instead, as Wolf repeatedly made his presence known, Suzanne was able to piece together Wolf’s puzzle and reveal a startling message that has profound spiritual implications for us all. Travel along on Suzanne’s incredible journey as she unravels the web of clues Wolf wove to ensure that his uplifting message of hope and joy is understood by all mankind. Part spiritual detective story, part definitive proof of after-death communications from a most extraordinary young man, Wolf’s Message is above all a must-read for those seeking a more balanced, heart-centered way of living.”

Listening to Suzanne’s books I learned that we are both:  Leos, recovering perfectionists, former straight-A students, have a connection to Petaluma in northern California and Parkinson’s disease, are about the same age (I am older), and were both grieving on sail boats in Croatia.  Additionally I discovered we share the same beliefs and experiences with regards to the afterlife.  I was so intrigued I have registered for her online course starting in December, Expand Your Innate Mediumship Skills With Soul-to-Soul Communication: Connecting With Multiple Realms & Spirit Beings Through the Field of Oneness, Love & Joy.  Stay tuned to my December blog to hear all about it!

My other teachers are some little earth angels who have come into my life in the form of students in the pod where I am currently working.  The truth is that they are teaching me far more than I am teaching them!  Not only am I learning all about the wizardry of Harry Potter, but about the magic of children.  Their energy, openness,  and quest for knowledge is  electrifying and catchy. Though I don’t endorse any religion and honor “all paths to the top of the mountain,” I love the quote from Jesus in the Bible in Matthew 18:1-5 when the disciples asked him, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”  I want become full of wonder like these cherubs in my temporary charge.
