As I was “RE”flecting on my 15th anniversary with Arbonne, I was “RE”minded of my personalized license plate which reads “RE9 4 Di.”  Over these past 15 years I have been stopped on numerous occasions and asked what does “RE9 4Di” mean?  Please read on and you will find this blog is not about Arbonne, but about International Self-Care Day.  First, you do need a little background…

Arbonne offers a Mercedes Benz cash bonus program which I participated in and earned a Mercedes convertible.  It is customary to personalize the license plate to seal the accomplishment.  My favorite Arbonne product line was the RE9, and RE9 for Di became RE9 4Di.

RE9 is the name of the premium anti-aging skincare line for Arbonne, which is a vegan health and wellness company.  When the products were launched, there were nine active anti-aging ingredients with a tag line of nine “REs:”  REnew, REvitalize, REstore, REfresh, REjuvenate, REplenish, REpair, REgenerate, and REinvigorate (or something like that)!

So…that got me thinking about all the “RE’s.”  What great words for times such as these!  And then I did a REwind to last month’s blog where I talked about the life REview and I REalized that I was REmiss with the most important statement I believe I made in that blog (June’s blog – Robots, Ruthy, & Renaissance).  I said that when we die or “cross over,” I believe that we go through a life review (enough with the RE) and are asked one question without any judgment.  That question was, “How could I have been more loving?”  When I was rereading my notes I noticed that I had missed the most important part of that question.  The real question should have read, “How could I have been more loving TO MYSELF and others.

Being loving to yourself ties in with self-care which is all the buzz – especially right now.  In fact, July 24 is the official “International Self Care Day.”  This then, is the perfect time to ask yourself how you can be more loving to you. I am recommending you do that with all the wonderful “RE’s.”  Why don’t you grab a piece of paper and number it from one to nine and print the “RE” word and then fill in how you are going to experience that word – both physically and spiritually?  You may want to do all nine in one day, or stretch them over nine days, or nine weeks.  Below I have shared one example of mine with you.  I am taking nine days to incorporate each one and finishing right before my 66th birthday.

  1.  RENEW:  When I think of “renew” I think of vows.  Sadly, I have a bad track record with marriage vows, so last year I wrote sacred wedding vows to myself.  I will renew those vows this year with even more fervor and commitment.  On the physical side, I am declaring an official “Rescue and Renew” spa night and on July 24, you will find me basking in in my heavenly tub with flickering candlelight and soft meditation music.

I would love to hear what your plans are to indulge your deserving self!  Do it today.
